Project overview
We were the lowest responsive bidder on this Title 61 competitive bid. Our contract included abatement and demolition of four structures. After interior demolition began, we discovered some of the natural stone from the original Carriage House. We received a change order to delicately remove it and place it on pallets for the museum to reuse in the new facility.
The Gilcrease Museum opened in 1949, but the original structure was built in 1913. Over the years many additions took place to provide space for the ever-growing collection. It was determined that these structures were no longer suitable for museum standards so plans began to rebuild a new state-of-the-art $86 million facility. The new 89,000 square foot building will provide best-in-class storage of the Gilcrease collection, protecting it for generations to come.
