Salina South & Central High Schools
Salina South & Central High Schools – Summer 2016 & 2017
DT pursued the opportunity to contract with McCown Gordon Construction of Manhattan, Kansas to provide strenuous selective demolition for renovations and machine demolition of structures for the new building footprint. Both high schools were in dire need of facelifts. The projects include multiple phases on two different site locations. Main demolition activities include removal of gym floors, walls, and slabs on grade within occupied buildings and machine demolition of 120,000 SF permanent pod structures at Salina South. Multiple crews and machines are coordinated to maintain schedule and sound control for students and faculty prior to the summer months. From removal of flooring, to precise separation of buildings, to removing a 12’-0” basement, the two combined projects have been successful in meeting and beating set schedules and budgets. While the projects are nearing completion, DT has received multiple compliments in the manner of executing set schedules, and performing complicated tasks to achieve the overall goal of allowing the follow-on trades to begin their work.
